Find out why you should have regular rack inspections
Why does your racking need a regular inspection?
Regular inspection and repair of your racking is a critical element of warehouse management. Warehouse and Operational Managers may not understand the risks to their operation, staff and stock if they fail to take care.
Failure to carry regular visual inspections as well as an annual rack inspection, by a suitably qualified person, and repair any damaged components, could lead to prosecution in the unfortunate event of an accident.

Do I need an annual rack inspection?
- Yes. European standard EN 15635 Steel Static Storage Systems - Application and Maintenance of Storage Equipment provides instruction regarding the inspection of racking structures. Section 188.8.131.52 Expert Inspections, states “A technically competent person shall carry out inspections at intervals no more than 12 months. A written report shall be submitted to the PRSES with observations and proposals for any action necessary.”
Do I need to inspect my racking as well?
- Yes you need to make visual inspections. EN15635 section 184.108.40.206 Visual Inspections states that “the PRSES (Person responsible for storage equipment safety) shall ensure that inspections are made at weekly or other regular intervals based on a risk assessment. A formal written record shall be maintained.”
Are they the same?
